Merton College

DOMUS GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS (COMPETITION B)

The Scholarships are intended to assist students of outstanding academic excellence who for financial reasons would not otherwise be able to study at the University of Oxford. They cover full board and accommodation in the College, College and University fees, and an additional grant of £2,700; this gives the Scholarships an annual value of between £10,200 and £24,000, depending on the origin of the student and the subject studied. Subject to satisfactory progress, the Scholarships will be tenable for three years.

Competition B is open to graduates of any university with a first class honours degree, who are ordinarily resident in the UK, and have not done more than two years of postgraduate study or research, and have been accepted to begin a course of study leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford in October 2000 in any subject normally acceptable for graduate study at the College, and have no other funding which would allow them to do so. The College intends to award one or two Scholarships.

Those interested in applying should contact the Assistant Tutorial Secretary, Merton College, Oxford, OX1 4JD (tel. +44 (0)1865 276299, fax +44 (0)1865 286500, e-mail julie.gerhardi@merton.ox.ac.uk). Enquiries may be made at any time after 1 January 2000, but applications should be submitted no earlier than 15 August 2000. The closing date will be 4 September 2000.
