Natural Sciences Tripos

GENERAL

The regulations for the Natural Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 343) have been amended as set out below. The purpose of the amendments is to remove from the existing regulations references to courses which will no longer qualify as exemptions for students wishing to change from the Natural Sciences Tripos to the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos. The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 October 2000, as follows:

Regulation 14.

By replacing the second paragraph of this regulation by the following:

The Senior Examiner in each of the subjects Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Pathology, and Pharmacology in Parts IB and II (General), shall inform the Secretary of the Joint Exemptions Committee for the Second M.B. Examination and for the Second Veterinary M.B. Examination as early as possible of the marks obtained by candidates offering the subject.

PART Ia

The regulations for Part IA of the Natural Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 343), as amended by Notices on 1 December 1999 and 24 May 2000 (Reporter, pp. 198 and 717), have been further amended as set out below. The purpose of these amendments is to make provision for assessment arrangements for the new course Physiology of Organisms. The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 October 2000, as follows:

Regulation 16(b).

By inserting in section (ii) the title 'Physiology of Organisms', and by deleting section (iv).

Regulation 16(c).

By replacing the first sentence by the following:

In assigning marks for the examination in Physiology of Organisms, the Examiners shall take account of the note-books submitted by candidates. In assigning marks for the examinations in other subjects, the Examiners may, at their discretion, take account of the note-books submitted by candidates.

PART II, GENERAL

In addition to the amendments to the regulations for the Natural Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 343) announced in Reporter, p. 978, the following amendment to Regulation 26(g) has been made, with effect from 1 October 2000:

Regulation 26(g).

By removing the subject 'Plant Sciences' from group (i) and inserting it in group (vi).
