School of Anthropology

SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR

Applications are invited for the post of Administrator in the University's School of Anthropology. This is a new, challenging post, with responsibility for the overall general administration of a large and expanding teaching and research school comprising twenty academic staff, nine support staff, and nine research staff.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the formulation of policy and will be an experienced and computer literate manager, with wide experience in financial management and budgetary control. He or she must have sound judgement in management and staff/appraisal/development, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels and to establish and maintain professional working relationships in an academic research environment. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of business planning and project management, and an ability to acquire knowledge of the administration of Higher Education, including an understanding of research grant funding. Experience of financial and other systems, and of building management and health, safety, and security would be an advantage. The post will be on the academic-related administrative grade 3 scale (£25,452 - £30,065 a year, with a discretionary range to £33,593 a year).
