Social and Political Sciences Tripos, Part II

The Old Regulations for Part II of the Social and Political Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 376, and see Reporter, p. 284) have been amended as set out below. The purpose of the amendments is (i) to discontinue Paper 1 and (ii) to widen the choice of core papers available under Regulation 13(a). The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 October 2000, as follows.

Regulation 12.

By deleting Paper 1, 'History and theory of the social sciences'.

Regulation 13.

By amending the regulation so as to read:

13. A candidate for Part II who takes the examination in the year next after obtaining honours in another Honours Examination shall offer:

(a) one paper chosen from Papers 2-5, 8, and 9;
and (b) three papers chosen from Papers 5-27;

provided that no candidate shall offer Paper 13 if he or she has previously offered either Paper 9 in Part IB of the Philosophy Tripos or the subject Experimental Psychology in Part IB of the Natural Sciences Tripos or the subject Psychology in Part IB of the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos.
