REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICE BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, they have approved amendments of the regulations for certain University examinations, as follows:

Preliminary Examination for the Education Studies Tripos

The regulations for the Preliminary Examination for the Education Studies Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 223) have been amended as set out below. The purpose of the amendments is to introduce regulations for the Preliminary Examination for Part II of the Tripos. The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 October 2001, as follows:

By inserting the following new regulations:

3. There shall be a Preliminary Examination for Part II of the Education Studies Tripos for candidates who present themselves for examination under Regulations 3(b) and 14(b) of that Tripos.1

4. The examination shall comprise two sections, as specified below. In order to be included in the list of successful candidates a candidate shall offer both sections.

Section I. Education Studies.

Course work related to the foundation disciplines of education.

Section II. Main Subject Studies.

For this section each candidate shall select one subject from among the subjects specified in Schedule II to the regulations of the Education Studies Tripos and shall offer

either

two written papers and other exercises specified for that subject in Schedule II,

or

one written paper and other exercises specified for that subject in Schedule II and Paper 6 of the Education Studies Tripos.

1 i.e. candidates who take the examination for Part II in the year next but one after last obtaining honours, or a candidate who is an Affiliated Student and has been given leave by the Faculty Board to take Part II without having previously obtained honours in an Honours Examination.
