Professorship of Theoretical Solid Mechanics: Notice

The Board of Electors to the Professorship of Theoretical Solid Mechanics invite applications for this Professorship and it is hoped that the successful candidate will take up appointment as soon as possible. The Professorship will be held in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and it is envisaged that the successful candidate's major interest will lie in the mathematical theory of solid mechanics, or in any of its applications to materials science, physics, medicine, or biology. The appointment will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the University.

Further information may be obtained from the Acting Secretary General of the Faculties, General Board Division, The University Offices, The Old Schools, Cambridge, CB2 1TT, to whom applications (one copy) should be sent, together with the names of two referees, so as to reach him not later than Friday, 28 July 2000.
