Examination in Quantitative Modelling of Industrial Processes for the M.Phil. Degree (one-year course)

On the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography, the subject Quantitative Modelling of Industrial Processes has been approved by the General Board and the Board of Graduate Studies, with effect from 1 October 2000, as a subject for further study and training in research for the M.Phil. Degree (one-year course). Special regulations for the examination in that subject have been approved as follows:

Quantitative Modelling of Industrial Processes

1. The scheme for examination for the one-year course of study in Quantitative Modelling of Industrial Processes for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:

(a) two written papers, each of three hours' duration, on subjects approved by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Geography;
(b) a thesis, not exceeding 15,000 words in length, including tables, figure legends, and appendices, but excluding bibliography, on a research project approved or prescribed by the Degree Committee;

2. The examination may include, at the discretion of the Examiners, an oral examination on the thesis and on the general field of knowledge within which it falls.
