The Master and Fellows of Emmanuel College give notice that the second Gomes Lecture will be held at the College at 5.30 p.m. on Friday, 4 February 2000, in the theatre of the Queen's Building. Professor John Polanyi, of the University of Toronto, will lecture on The responsibility of the scientist.
The Gomes Lecture has been endowed by Cynthia Wight Rossano and Kenneth Ralph Rossano, of Boston, Massachusetts, in honour of the Revd Professor Peter J. Gomes, D.D., Honorary Fellow of the College, Plummer Professor of Christian Morals at Harvard University, and Pusey Minister in the Memorial Church, Harvard.
Members of the University wishing to attend, subject to the availability of places, are requested to apply in writing to Mrs Karen Bazzant, Emmanuel College, Cambridge, CB2 3AP.
