REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICE BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, they have approved amendments of the regulations for certain University examinations, as follows:

Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos

The regulations for the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 327) have been amended as set out below. The purpose of the amendment is to make Paper Fr. 1 (Introduction to the structure and varieties of modern French) available in Part IB of the Tripos as well as in Part IA. The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 October 2000, as follows:

By inserting Paper Fr. 1 in the list of papers for French.

The Faculty Board of Modern and Medieval Languages give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2001, the form of the examinations for Parts IA and IB of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos will be changed as follows:

Paper Fr. 1.

The paper will be divided into three sections: Section A, consisting of varieties topics, Section B, with rather easier structures questions, and Section C, with more difficult structures questions. Candidates for Part IA will be required to answer three questions: one each from Sections A and B, and a third question from either Section A or Section B. Candidates for Part IB will be required to answer one question from each section.
