Preachers before the University, 2000-01: Notice

The following persons have been appointed in the manner prescribed by Ordinance to preach before the University during the academical year 2000-01.

Michaelmas Term 2000

22 October The Revd Kathleen Richardson, Co-ordinating Secretary for Inter-church and other Relationships, the Methodist Church; sometime President of the Methodist Conference; formerly of Wesley House.
5 November The Revd Dr D. M. Thompson, Fellow of Fitzwilliam College; University Lecturer in Divinity at the University of Cambridge; sometime Moderator of the General Assembly of the United Reformed Church. (The Lady Margaret's Preacher, Commemoration of Benefactors: scarlet day).

Lent Term 2001

4 February The Most Revd and Rt Hon. Dr David Hope, Lord Archbishop of York, Primate of England; formerly of the University of Nottingham and Honorary Fellow of Linacre College, Oxford.
4 March The Rt Revd Dr Rowan Williams, Lord Bishop of Monmouth; formerly of Christ's College and Westcott House, and of Christ Church and Wadham College, Oxford; Honorary Fellow of Clare College (Hulsean Sermon).

Easter Term 2001

6 May The Revd Canon Margaret Thrall; formerly of the University of Wales, Bangor, and of Girton College.
3 June The Revd Canon Dr John Peterson, Secretary General, Anglican Consultative Council; Honorary Canon of St George's Cathedral, Jerusalem; formerly of Concordia University and of Harvard University (Ramsden Sermon, Whitsunday: scarlet day).

University Sermons are delivered in Great St Mary's Church at 11.15 a.m. on the Sundays stated.

The Vice-Chancellor, on the recommendation of the Master of Corpus Christi College, has nominated The Rt Revd Dr Geoffrey Rowell, CC, Bishop Suffragan of Basingstoke, as Preacher at the Commemoration of John Mere, in St Bene't's Church at 11.45 a.m. on Tuesday, 24 April 2001.
