At a meeting held on 22 November, Dr A. J. Munro, President, was in the Chair. Professor P. P. G. Bateson, FRS, presented the William Bate Hardy Prize for 1998 to joint winners, Professor T. Clutton-Brock, FRS, and Professor A. H. Wyllie, FRS.
Professor R. A. Laskey, FRS, of the Wellcome/CRC Institute, presented a lecture, entitled Chromosome replication in normal cells and cancer. A vote of thanks to the speaker was moved by Professor S. P. Jackson.

Travel Grants, amounting to £1,000, have been awarded to Fellows of the Society.
