Economics Tripos, Part II, and Preliminary Examination for Part II, 2000: Notice

The Faculty Board of Economics and Politics give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2000, the form of the examination for Part II and for the Preliminary Examination for Part II of the Economics Tripos will be changed as follows:

Preliminary Examination for Part II

Paper 6.  Mathematics for economists and statisticians

This paper will be divided into two sections. Section A will contain nine questions, and Section B will contain six longer questions. Candidates will be required to attempt six questions from Section A and three questions from Section B. Each section will carry 50 per cent of the total marks. Credit will be given for complete answers. Candidates who answer individual parts of questions will gain less than the proportional credit.

Part II

Paper 6.  Mathematical economics

This paper will be divided into two sections. Candidates will be required to answer at least three questions, including at least one from each section. Extra credit can be gained by answering more than three complete questions; however relatively little credit can be given for part answers.
