Natural Sciences Tripos, Parts II and III, Geological Sciences

The regulations for the subject Geological Sciences in Parts II and III of the Natural Sciences Tripos have been amended as set out below. The purpose of these amendments is (a) to replace the review course offered in option A of Part II of the Tripos with a critical literature review project; (b) to discontinue the assessed essays associated with Lent Term courses in Parts II and III; and (c) to introduce, over the next year, continuously assessed practicals in place of several of the current practical examinations.

The regulations for the Natural Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 352 and 355) have been amended with immediate effect as follows. The Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography are satisfied that no candidate's preparation for the examination in 1999 is adversely affected by these amendments.
