Chemical Engineering Tripos, Part IIB, 2000: Notice

The Chemical Engineering Syndicate give notice that the form of the examination for Part IIB of the Chemical Engineering Tripos, which will be held for the first time in 2000, will be as follows:

Paper 1

This paper will contain six questions. Section A will contain three essay questions on states of matter. Section B will contain three questions on statistics. Candidates will be required to answer four questions, two from Section A and two from Section B. In Section B, Question 4 will be compulsory.

Paper 2

This paper will contain nine questions. Section A will contain three questions on polymers, Section B will contain three questions on combustion, and Section C will contain three questions on fluidization. Candidates will be required to answer four questions choosing from only two of the Sections A, B, or C.

Paper 3

This paper will contain nine questions. Section A will contain three questions on particle technology, Section B will contain three questions on surface science, and Section C will contain three questions on fluid mechanics. Candidates will be required to answer four questions choosing from only two of the Sections A, B, or C.

Paper 4

This paper will contain nine questions. Section A will contain three questions on rheology, Section B will contain three questions on catalysis and reactor modelling, and Section C will contain three questions on advanced bioprocessing. Candidates will be required to answer four questions choosing from only two of the sections A, B, or C.
