Election, appointments, and reappointments

The following election, appointments, and reappointments have been made:

Election

Professor J. T. Patterson, CAI, B.A., Williams College, M.A., Ph.D., Harvard, elected the Pitt Professor of American History and Institutions from 1 October 1999 for one year.

Appointments

Senior Language Adviser

Language Centre. Dr C. Zähner appointed from 1 September 1999 for five years.

Administrative Officer

University Offices (Finance Division). Mr A. J. Harnwell, AAT, ACCA, appointed Administrative Officer, Grade II, from 8 November 1999 for three years.

Head of Department

Pharmacology. The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Biology, have appointed Professor P. A. McNaughton, CHR, to be Head of the Department from 1 October 1999 for five years.

Acting Head of Department

Chemistry. The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Physics and Chemistry, have appointed Professor J. K. M. Sanders, SE, to be Acting Head of the Department from 1 October 1999 to 31 December 1999.

Reappointments

University Lecturers

Engineering. Dr A. Al-Tabbaa, SID, reappointed from 1 July 2000 to the retiring age.

Oriental Studies. Dr J. E. Montgomery, TH, reappointed from 1 January 2000 to the retiring age.

Heads of Departments

Paediatrics. Professor I. A. Hughes, CLH, reappointed from 1 October 1999 for five years.

Radiology. Professor A. K. Dixon, PET, reappointed from 1 October 1999 for five years.
