University Lecturers and University Assistant Lecturers

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for three or five years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment to the retiring age. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £20,811 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £32,095.

Appointments made at University Assistant Lecturer level will be for three years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The statutory limit of tenure of a University Assistant Lectureship is five years, but all holders of the office of University Assistant Lecturer are considered for possible appointment to the office of University Lecturer during the course of their tenure. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Assistant Lecturer is £17,238 a year, rising by six annual increments to £22,579.

University Lecturer in the Faculty of Divinity

University Lecturer in the Philosophy of Religion, to take up appointment from 1 October 2000. The person appointed must possess a Ph.D. Degree in a relevant discipline, have expertise in the Philosophy of Religion and/or Philosophical Theology, and be able to contribute to the cognate areas of ethics or the study of religions.

University Lecturers or University Assistant Lecturers in the Judge Institute of Management Studies

Two University Lecturers or University Assistant Lecturers, to take up appointment by 1 September 2000. Applications are invited from candidates with expertise in any one or more of the following subject areas: Corporate Finance; Management Accounting; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Operations and Technology Management; Applied Statistics; Strategic Management.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate their record of excellence in research, and have the ability to teach at undergraduate, postgraduate, and post-experience levels. Senior Design Engineer in the Department of Engineering

Senior Design Engineer in Electronic Engineering, to take up appointment on 1 January 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter. The person appointed to this challenging post will assume responsibility for innovative design within an electronics group which maintains a very wide-ranging design, consultancy, and production capability, supporting research and teaching activities in the Department. Applicants should have broad and up-to-date experience of electronic design (preferably including analogue instrumentation). They are likely to be Chartered Engineers. The work requires regular contact with staff and students, and will include a small amount of lecturing and laboratory demonstrating. Appointment will be for five years, with the possibility of reappointment to the retiring age.

The pensionable scale of stipends for a Senior Design Engineer is £22,579 a year, rising by ten annual increments to £32,571.

Lecturer in Finance in the Judge Institute of Management Studies

Applications are invited from outstanding individuals for appointment to an unestablished, fixed-term Lectureship in Finance, from 1 September 2000. The position arises due to a Faculty member taking up a three-year ESRC Research Fellowship. The candidate appointed should be able to contribute to core courses in Finance and have a strong research potential in any area in Finance. Teaching responsibilities will include a core course in Finance on the M.Phil. programme and an advanced course in Corporate Finance on the undergraduate programme. The position may suit someone who is at an early stage of his or her academic career.

The current pensionable salary scale for this Lectureship is in the range £17,238 to £22,579 a year, and the post will carry the normal duties of a University Lecturer. Appointments will be made at the appropriate point on this scale, depending on the age and experience of the person appointed, and will be for three years.
