The following lectures and seminars will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

English. The Faculty of English MiniFest 1999, supported by the Judith Wilson Fund and entitled Telling tales, will take place as follows:

4 p.m. on 18 November, in the Arts Theatre, First Floor: Anancy goes global, by Terri-ann White and Ato Quayson.

4 p.m. on 19 November, in the Winstanley Theatre, Trinity College: Land lines, by Glen Phillips.

2 p.m. on 21 November, in the Cockcroft Room, Churchill College: Location internation, by Michael Heller, Andrew Taylor, and Joanne Limburg.

5.30 p.m. on 22 November, in the Nihon Room, Pembroke College: Remembering the family: Zairean epic and British travellers, by Richard Neville.

Fitzwilliam Museum. Lunch-time Gallery Talks, under the general title Art in context, will be given at 1.15 p.m. on Wednesdays, from 13 October to 1 December.

17 November Allies in art and nature - insects and flower painting, by Jane Munro, Senior Assistant Keeper of Paintings and Drawings, and Jude Bennison, ADAS Entomologist.

University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate and its Advisory Council for New Technologies in Assessment. A seminar, entitled The computerized assessment of IT, will be given at 4.30 p.m. on Thursday, 18 November, in the Music Room, Downing College. Speakers are from the University of East Anglia.

Practical issues in IT competence assessment, by Dr Roy Dowsing.
