VACANCIES

Programmer in the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology

A graduate C programmer with PC experience is required to join a small team developing software playing an important role in international efforts to determine the complete DNA sequence of man. This is an opportunity to make a contribution to a scientific project that is already having a profound impact on biology and medicine. The main requirement is knowledge of the programming environment on NT, but UNIX, Tcl/Tk, and platform independent software development would be an advantage. We also need enthusiasm and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small group. Previous knowledge of the science is not required.

This is a part time post (18.5 hours a week) funded until 30 April 2003. The appointment will be to MRC Pay Band 4 (£16,280-£29,362 a year), supported by a performance-related pay scheme and MRC pension scheme. The starting salary will be pro rata and will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

For further information see http://www.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/pubseq/ or e-mail Dr Rodger Staden (rs@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk).

To apply, please send two copies of a full curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of two professional referees, by 21 October 1999, to Johanna Webb, Personnel Officer, MRC Centre, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 2QH.
