Regius Professorship of Civil Law: Notice

Applications are invited for appointment by the Crown to the Regius Professorship of Civil Law to take up appointment from 1 October 2000. Civil law encompasses Roman law, the history of legal systems based on Roman law and comparative law. Applicants should have an established international reputation in one of these areas and should take a wide-ranging view of the place of civil law in current legal scholarship. The Professor is expected to lead teaching and research in the subject in the Faculty of Law and to play a full role in the life of the Faculty.

Candidates for the Professorship should send a copy of their application, marked 'Confidential', together with the names of two referees, to the Secretary General of the Faculties, from whom further information regarding the Professorship is available, at the General Board Division, The University Offices, The Old Schools, Cambridge, CB2 1TT, so as to reach him not later than Friday, 29 October 1999.
