TWO FIXED-TERM RESEARCH ASSISTANTS

Research Assistant (Paintings, Drawings, and Prints)

The Fitzwilliam Museum is seeking to appoint an art historian with museum experience to work within the Department of Paintings, Drawings, and Prints at the Fitzwilliam Museum to address the backlog of documentation relating to the print collection. The post-holder will be expected to process efficiently a large number of items, covering the broad range of the collection, and to generate entries on the database. Experience in handling prints and drawings, the ability to identify printmaking and drawing techniques, and a general familiarity with the literature of printmaking are required. This is an unestablished eighteen-month post. The pensionable salary is £16,286 to £18,185 a year, age-related. Funds are available for this post until 31 March 2001 in the first instance and the post may, subject to the availability of funding, be renewed for a further period.

Research Assistant (Coins and Medals)

The Fitzwilliam Museum is seeking to appoint a graduate in history or allied subject with a knowledge of numismatics and museum experience to work within the Department of Coins and Medals at the Fitzwilliam Museum to address the backlog of documentation by relabelling, recording on a database and digitally photographing sections of the collections. A general familiarity with the various branches of numismatics and experience in handling and classifying museum objects are required. Experience with databases and with photography would be an advantage. This is an unestablished eighteen-month post. The pensionable salary is £16,286 to £18,185 a year, age-related. Funds are available for this post until 31 March 2001 in the first instance and the post may, subject to the availability of funding, be renewed for a further period.
