Centre for Advanced Religious and Theological Studies (CARTS)

DIRECTOR OF THE DHARAM HINDUJA INSTITUTE OF INDIC RESEARCH

The Faculty of Divinity hopes to appoint to the post of Director of the Dharam Hinduja Institute of Indic Research within CARTS for five years initially, with effect from 1 October 1999 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Institute exists to make the Indic traditions, with especial emphasis on Hinduism, relevant to the modern world in practical ways. Candidates, who must have a Ph.D. Degree or be in the final stages of completing a Ph.D. Degree in a relevant discipline, must also have competence in Sanskrit and a proven interest in one or more of the following focuses of the Institute: health and medicine, environmental studies, multicultural concerns. The appointment will be made at an appropriate point on the Research Associate scale, currently £15,735, rising by nine increments to £23,651 a year.
