Family-friendly Work Policies Project in collaboration with the Harvard/Radcliffe Public Policy Institute

Lucy Cavendish College's Centre for Women Leaders seeks to recruit a Research Fellow to join a small team concerned with a project on family-friendly work policies. The project is modelled on recent research undertaken by the Harvard/Radcliffe Public Policy Institute, USA, and will be conducted in consultation with Dr Paula Rayman, the Director of the Public Policy Institute. The Research Fellow will investigate the impact of family-friendly working arrangements on the performance of two large British companies who have agreed to participate. The project will be directed by Dr Shirley Dex and will be located at Lucy Cavendish College, with close links to the team of researchers working in this field at the Judge Institute of Management Studies and the Centre for Family Research.

Applicants should be women* with doctoral qualifications in a relevant social science discipline and with appropriate research experience. Experience of research in the field of human resources management or companies performance measurement is desirable. The post will be for three years, commencing on 1 October 1999, or at an earlier date to be agreed with the successful candidate. The stipend would be on the scale of £15,735 to £21,815 a year, and the College Research Fellowship carries with it the usual dining privileges.
