AWARDS BY OUTSIDE BODIES

Friedrich Ebert Foundation

FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

The programme is intended to provide an opportunity for qualified UK university graduates and postdoctoral scholars in political science, sociology, history, and economics to familiarize themselves with the current state of research in their field in the Federal Republic of Germany and to conduct independent research. In addition, the programme is designed to promote an exchange of information and opinions between the British and Germans on social and political topics. Applicants should have a special interest in contemporary or past German or European affairs and/or German-British relations (particularly contemporary studies). They will also be expected to show an ability and willingness to engage in political dialogue.

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation will provide ten study and research fellowships for the academical year 1999-2000. Two types of fellowship are offered on an open competitive basis:

Expenses covered include air fare between the UK and the Federal Republic plus domestic travel expenses, unless paid by another institution; tuition and fees if applicable.
