School of the Humanities and Social Sciences

RESEARCH FACILITATOR FOR THE SOCIAL SCIENCES

The Council of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences wish to appoint to a new academic post of Research Facilitator, whose role will be to foster and develop research within the social sciences in direct collaboration with University Faculties and Departments. The post-holder will be expected to assist researchers in the preparation of funding bids; to liaise with social science research funders and national organizations; to identify and advise on opportunities for strategic research initiatives; and to assist in the dissemination of research outcomes. He or she will have a record of recent success as a funded social science researcher, and knowledge of the wider social science research environment. Good interpersonal, team-working, and IT skills will be essential, as will the ability to initiate new ideas and motivate others.

The appointment will be on a fixed-term contract for three years, with a salary within the range of £20,107 to £31,010 a year. It is expected that some secretarial support will be provided to assist the post-holder.
