Sidney Sussex College

NON-STIPENDIARY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

The College Council hopes to make an election to a non-stipendiary Research Fellowship tenable for not less than two and not more than four years, to commence on 1 October 1999. The Fellowship is open to both men and women who are in receipt of a stipend for the corresponding period of time, and who hold for example a British Academy, Royal Society, Research Council, Wellcome Trust, or similar Fellowship. There is no restriction as to subject, but candidates for the Sciences need to certify that the University or a related institution in Cambridge will provide space and resources for their research. A Research Fellow will be entitled to a non-residential room in College and to a Fellow's dining and other rights. The holder of a Research Fellowship will be welcome to teach for the College for not more than six hours a week, and would receive payment pro rata for that teaching.

Applications (there are no application forms) should reach the Master's Secretary, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, CB2 3HU, by Friday, 16 April 1999. Each application should include:

(a) six copies of the following: a list of the applicant's publications and a description of the research work which the applicant has already done, of the work currently in progress, and of the lines along which investigation will next proceed. The description of research should not exceed 1,000 words in length and it is important that it should be understandable by a non-specialist. Applicants should be prepared, if required, to submit copies of their published or unpublished works;
(b) six copies of a curriculum vitae;
(c) the names and addresses of three persons who will be providing references, if requested.

The College is an equal opportunities employer.
