Elections, appointments, and reappointments

The following elections, appointments, and reappointments have been made:

Elections

Professor K. R. Sreenivasan, B.E., Bangalore, M.E., Ph.D., Indian Institute of Science, M.A., Yale, elected Rothschild Visiting Professor in the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences from 10 January 1999 to 15 March 1999.

Professor A. E. Perry, B.E., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., Melbourne, elected Rothschild Visiting Professor in the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences from 9 March 1999 to 22 April 1999.

Professor A. M. Peters, whose election to the Professorship of Nuclear Medicine was announced in Reporter, p. 8, took up his appointment on 1 February 1999 not 1 October 1998.

Engineering. Mr F. Udrea, Ph.D., EM, B.Sc., Bucharest, M.Sc., Warwick, appointed from 1 October 1998 for five years.

Geography. Mr S. N. Lane, Ph.D., F, appointed from 1 January 1999 for three years.

Senior Language Teaching Officer

Slavonic Studies. Mrs N. V. Franklin, SID, Degree in German, Voronezh, appointed from 1 January 1999 for five years.

Computer Officers

Engineering. Mr R. M. Wareham, B.Sc., Wales, appointed Computer Officer, Grade III, from 1 February 1999 for three years.

Law. Mr A. Edgar, B.Sc., Ph.D., Ulster, appointed Computer Officer, Grade II, from 1 January 1999 for five years.

University Computing Service. Mr J. L Gluza, M.A., CHU, B.Sc., Newcastle upon Tyne, Mrs H. V. Sargan, M.A., B.Sc., London, and Mr J. M. Wilkins, B.A., M.Sc., Oxford, Ph.D., Kent, appointed Computer Officers, Grade II, from 1 January 1999 for five years.

Technical Officer

Materials Science and Metallurgy. Mr A. W. Rayment, B.Sc., Portsmouth, appointed from 1 January 1999 for five years.

Reappointments

Director

Institute of Biotechnology. Dr C. R. Lowe, T, reappointed Director from 1 January 1999 until the retiring age.

Assistant Under-Librarian

University Library. Mrs A. Collins reappointed from 1 March 1999 until the retiring age.
