University of Stirling

POSTGRADUATE STUDENTSHIP IN PHILOSOPHY

The Philosophy Department at the University of Stirling is pleased to offer a competitive three-year Postgraduate Studentship, which will be awarded for one year in the first instance, with the expectation that it will be renewed for a further two years. The research strengths of the Department are in logic and language, the philosophy of mind, the history of modern philosophy, legal theory, and social and political philosophy. Applicants should be proposing to carry out their research in one of these areas. Applicants will normally have a degree in philosophy and have completed or be completing a taught Master's Degree. They must be eligible for, and will be expected to apply for, funding from either the Student Awards Agency for Scotland, the Arts and Humanities Research Board, or an equivalent funding agency.

The value of the Studentship will be £6,000 a year plus tuition fees. There are no teaching obligations attached to the Studentship, although there will be opportunities for paid teaching during the second and third years.
