VACANCIES

Department of Physics (Cavendish Laboratory)

FOUR POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS FOR RESEARCH ON ORGANIC SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICES

Applications are invited for four postdoctoral positions for research in the physics of electronic devices based on semiconducting polymers in the Optoelectronics Group at the Cavendish Laboratory. The positions are available from 1 June 1999. The successful applicants will have Ph.D. Degrees in physics or a related field.

(i) Thin-film transistors: fabrication, measurement, and modelling of FETs made with polymer semiconductors (1 position). A background in semiconductor device fabrication or measurement is desirable.
(ii) Modelling and measurement of polymer light-emitting diodes: development of detailed models of electrical and optical operation. A background in semiconductor device modelling (1 position) or measurement of polymer semiconductors (1 position for one year only) is desirable.
(iii) Electro-optical measurements of polymer diode structures (1 position). A background in semiconductor measurement is desirable.

Appointments will be made for two years in the first instance, unless otherwise stated, and the posts may, subject to the availability of funding, be renewed for a further period or periods. The salary is in the range £15,735 to £23,651 a year and is pensionable. Further application details are available at http://www-oe.phy.cam.ac.uk/OE/. Applications or enquiries should be sent to Mrs P. Blench, Cavendish Laboratory, Madingley Road, Cambridge, CB3 0HE (fax 01223 353397, e-mail pob1001@cam.ac.uk). The closing date is 31 March 1999.
