Philosophical Society

On Monday, 15 February, at 8.30 p.m. in the Cockcroft Lecture Theatre, New Museums Site, Professor N. J. Hitchin, FRS, of the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, will deliver a lecture entitled The 28 bitangents and other stories. All who are interested are invited.

At a meeting held on 1 February, Sir Sam Edwards was in the Chair. Sixty-one Fellows were elected and five were re-elected. Mr Brian J. Ford delivered a lecture entitled Stepping back in time - how the first scientists viewed their specimens. A vote of thanks was moved by Professor J. D. Mollon.
