St Catharine's College

MICHAEL AND MORVEN HELLER RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN COMPUTING SCIENCE

Applications are invited for the above Fellowship, tenable for three years from 1 October 1999 at St Catharine's College. Candidates should normally have completed a doctorate in Computer Science, and should preferably be under the age of thirty-five. The appointee will be invited to work in the University's Computer Laboratory and his or her research should preferably relate to current work in the Laboratory. The Fellowship will be in the area of the specification of computer systems. This includes not only the specification of interfaces, but also the specification of system behaviour. Research issues of interest include: specification-driven implementation; maintaining consistency between an implemented system and its specification; achieving adaptation of systems to changes in specification; specifying system components so that they may be composed and reused; capturing non-functional requirements, meaning, and behaviour. The stipend for the Fellowship will be on the University Assistant Lecturer scale at a point determined by age and experience; in addition, the Fellow will enjoy statutory privileges of Fellows of the College, but not including membership of the Governing Body.

Further information about the appointment may be obtained from Professor Robin Milner, University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory, New Museums Site, Pembroke Street, Cambridge, CB2 3QG (fax 01223 334678, e-mail rm135@cl.cam.ac.uk). Applications, including a current curriculum vitae and the names of three referees, should be sent to the Master's Secretary, St Catharine's College, Cambridge, CB2 1RL, by 1 March 1999.
