McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in archaeology, tenable for a period of three years at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research. The person appointed will conduct research into cognitive archaeology (including the archaeology of early human cognition, or aspects of cognition in early human societies), and will have an established record of research and publication in this field. The Fellowship is jointly funded by the McDonald Institute and the Isaac Newton Trust. The Fellowship is open to recent graduate students in archaeology who have successfully completed their doctoral research in a UK university within the last three years. Salary will be £15,000 a year. The successful candidate will also be provided with research space in the McDonald Institute, and will be eligible to apply for fieldwork or research funds from the D. M. McDonald Grants and Awards Fund.

Applications, including a research proposal (not more than two pages), curriculum vitae, and the names of two referees, should be sent to The Deputy Director, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, Downing Street, Cambridge, CB2 3ER, to arrive no later than 5 February 1999. Interviews will be held in early March, with a view to making an appointment beginning 1 April 1999 or as soon as possible thereafter.
