Wolfson College

NON-STIPENDIARY JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS 1999

The College proposes to elect up to twelve non-stipendiary Junior Research Fellows, without limitation of subject, for two years in the first instance, from 1 October 1999. A Fellowship is renewable for a further term of two years subject to satisfactory progress in research, and normally submission of a doctoral (or equivalent) thesis by those not holding a doctorate at the time of election. Applications from candidates over the age of thirty on 1 October 1999 (thirty-two for clinically qualified applicants) are discouraged. In non-clinical sciences, preference will be given to those holding a doctorate or who expect to hold one by October 1999. Arts candidates should have had at least two years' postgraduate experience by 1 October 1999.

STIPENDIARY JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP 1999

The College proposes to make one election to a stipendiary Junior Research Fellowship (in one of the subjects: Law; Politics; Economics; Other Social Studies, excluding Social Anthropology) for three years, to commence on 1 October 1999, at an annual stipend of £10,767 plus any general percentage increase in academic salaries that may come into effect, together with single accommodation (or an allowance in lieu) and Common Table meals. Candidates should normally be under thirty years on 1 October 1999 and should have at least two years' research experience in the subject.

CHARTER FELLOWSHIPS, 1999-2000, IN THE HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

Wolfson College offers two Charter Fellowships, to be chosen from the above subjects. Applications are invited from persons holding a university lecturership (or comparable position in the UK or abroad). Fellows will be expected to carry out research in Oxford for at least one university term, but may hold the Fellowship for up to one academical year in all. Fellowships carry no stipend, but the College will make available up to £1,200 towards the expenses of each Fellow. College accommodation at the normal rent may be available.

The closing date for applications for all the above Fellowships is 22 March 1999.
