Oriel College

THE HARGREAVES SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

The College proposes to elect a Hargreaves Senior Scholar for two years from 1 October 1999. The Scholarship is open to men and women graduates of any university. During tenure of the Scholarship, the successful applicant will be required to be reading for a higher degree in the Humanities at the University of Oxford. The Scholar will be a member of the Senior Common Room and will be entitled to lunches and dinners at the Common Table and, if unmarried, to rooms in College, free of charge. The Scholar may also receive a sum not exceeding £600 for each year of holding the Scholarship.

Applicants should write to the College Secretary, Oriel College, Oxford, OX1 4EW, enclosing a curriculum vitae and a proposed outline of research (eight copies of each), together with the names of three referees. Candidates are asked to request their referees to send references direct to the College Secretary before Friday, 12 February 1999.
