Audio-visual Aids Unit: Notice

The General Board give notice that, following a review of the work of the Audio-visual Aids Unit, they have agreed that the Unit should cease to exist as a separate institution. The regulations for the Unit and for the office of Director (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 592) have accordingly been rescinded. The Board have also approved new arrangements for the management of certain services formerly provided by the Unit, as follows:

Photography and illustration service

Responsibility for this has been transferred to the University Computing Service. The service is located, as previously, in the Old Examination Hall on the New Museums Site (tel. 34390, e-mail dm10009@cus.cam.ac.uk).

Audio-visual equipment

Facilities for the hire of audio-visual equipment have been discontinued. Responsibility for the maintenance of equipment in lecture theatres on central sites is now the responsibility of Central Sites Technical Services, a section of the Finance Division of the University offices (tel. 34395 or 32204, e-mail sh230@cam.ac.uk, jbs22@cam.ac.uk, or aep1000@admin.cam.ac.uk).

Television facilities

Following the closure of the Audio-visual Aids Unit's television studio, a new facility, under the title Cambridge University Moving Image Studio, has been opened at 1 Bene't Place (tel. 62549, e-mail info@cumis.cam.ac.uk) under the auspices of the Department of Architecture (see Reporter, p. 81).

Copyright licensing

The administration of the University's Educational Recording Agency licence has been taken over by the Copyright Licensing Co-ordinator, who can be contacted at the Scientific Periodicals Library (tel. 34741, e-mail smd15@cam.ac.uk).
