Computer Laboratory

COMPUTER ASSOCIATE

Applications are invited for the post of Computer Associate to take up appointment as soon as possible. The person appointed will join a small team running the network and computers used for teaching and research in the University's Computer Laboratory, whose work is at the leading edge of computer science. He or she will be responsible for a wide variety of systems administration tasks including installation and maintenance of software, user support, and troubleshooting. Applicants should have some experience of systems administration of at least one modern operating system such as Windows/NT or Linux, ideally in a networked environment. Initiative and the ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision within the team structure are essential. The appointment will be for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal for a further period. The salary, which is pensionable, will be on the scale £15,735 to £23,651 a year.
