Balliol College

VISITING RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS, 1999-2000

Balliol College invites applications for up to three Visiting Research Fellowships for the academical year 1999-2000, or part thereof for a duration of at least one term. These Fellowships are intended to offer scholars of outstanding distinction or promise from outside the United Kingdom an opportunity to pursue their own research as members of the College. Fellows will normally be expected to reside in Oxford during terms. They will be entitled to full membership of the Senior Common Room and to take meals in College without charge. There is no stipend attached to these Fellowships. Preference will be given to candidates whose work is close to the academic interests of one or more Fellows of the College.

Applications, in the the form of a letter, should include a statement of proposed research during the Fellowship; a full curriculum vitae; and the names and addresses of two academic referees. It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that their references are sent directly to the College by the closing date. Applications should be sent to the Senior Tutor, Balliol College, Oxford, OX1 3BJ, and should reach the College by 22 January 1999. The College hopes to complete the elections by mid-March 1999.
