LEES KNOWLES LECTURES, 1998

Professor Keith Jeffery, of the University of Ulster, will lecture on 'For the Freedom of Small Nations': Ireland and the Great War at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Mill Lane Lecture Rooms as follows:

4 November: Participation: Suvla Bay, the Somme, and the Easter Rising.

11 November: Imagination: onlookers in France: Irish cultural responses to the war.

18 November: Commemoration: 'Turning 11 November into 12 July': Irish politics and the memory of the war.

The lectures are open to all.
