Regulations for Examinations: Notice by the General Board

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Music Tripos

The regulations for the Music Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 358) have been amended as follows, with immediate effect:

Regulation 14.

By replacing the words '(excluding bibliography and appendices)' by the words '(excluding bibliography and appendices but including footnotes)'.

Regulation 17(c).

By replacing the words '(exclusive of bibliography and appendices)' by the words '(excluding bibliography and appendices but including footnotes)'.

The supplementary regulations for the Music Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 360) have also been amended as follows:

Part Ia

Paper 3.  Subjects in the history of music I

By replacing the words 'European music' by the words 'Western music'.

Part Ib

Paper 2.  Subjects in the history of music I and ethnomusicology

By replacing the words 'European music' by the words 'Western music'.

Part II

Portfolio of free compositions

By amending the second sentence so as to read:

The compositions must be presented in normal staff notation; in addition, a recording of one of the four must be submitted on cassette tape.
