The Board of Graduate Studies invite applications for Lundgren Research Awards which they propose to make in April 1999 and October 1999. One or more such Awards may be made at least once a year to persons who are registered as candidates for the Ph.D. Degree provided that they are engaged in research in a scientific subject (which term shall be taken to include mathematics) and are not ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom, and have completed four terms of research as registered Graduate Students of the University, provided that they have shown a high aptitude for research and a devotion to study, and are in need of financial assistance. The Managers pay particular attention to the extent to which the applicant's financial difficulties are of an unforeseen nature.
Applications must be sent to the Secretary of the Board of Graduate Studies, 4 Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RZ, so as to reach him not later than 31 March 1999 for consideration in April 1999, and not later than 30 September 1999, for consideration in October 1999. Forms of application may be obtained from the office of the Board of Graduate Studies.
