AMELIA EARHART FELLOWSHIP AWARDS FOR WOMEN 1999-2000 ACADEMIC YEAR
60th YEAR

Please note that the closing date has passed. Next year's awards will likely be similar.

Applications were invited for the 1999-2000 academic year from qualified women for grants of $6,000 U.S. dollars each for graduate study in aerospace-related sciences and aerospace-related engineering.

The Fellowships memoralize famed air pioneer and Zontian, Amelia Earhart, who disappeared over the Pacific in 1937. By memorializing Amelia Earhart through this fellowship, Zonta International encourages and supports women to expand their horizons by pursuing aerospace-related sciences.

To apply for the fellowships, a woman must meet the following requirements:

1. By the application deadline you must have a bachelor's degree in a qualifying area of science or engineering closely related to advanced studies in aerospace-related science or aerospace-related engineering.
2. You must demonstrate a superior academic record and evidence of potential at a recognized university or college as verified by transcripts, recommendations and acceptance or verification by a university or college with accredited courses in aerospace-related studies.
3. You must have a well-defined research program in aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering as described in the application essay and you must clearly demonstrate the relationship of your research to aerospace. Your research program must be verified by at least one letter of recommendation.
4. By the time the fellowship grant is awarded, you must have completed one year of aerospace-related graduate studies at a well recognised institution of higher education

Candidates are evaluated by a committee of Zonta educators and scientists. All applications, recommendations, transcripts, and graduate acceptance or letter of current standing must be postmarked by 1 November and received by 7 November to be considered. Award recipients will be notified on or before 15 May.
