COMPUTER ASSOCIATE, GRADE III/IV

Applications Developer (user database and internal accounting support)

An Applications Developer is required to assist in the maintenance and development of the Computing Service user database and in automating and integrating the procedures by which users are billed for a variety of charged services. Candidates should be qualified at least to first degree level and have experience of using database software, preferably Oracle. Experience in writing client applications to run under NT will be very desirable and some knowledge of commercial accounting software advantageous. In the context of understanding existing procedures with a view to replacing them, the ability to talk to administrative and accounts staff in non-technical terms will be just as important as great technical expertise. The appointment will be for three years initially, with the possibility of reappointment, and depending on age and experience will be at Computer Associate, Grade IV (salary from £15,735 to £18,275) or at Computer Associate, Grade III (salary from £18,275 to £23,651).
