Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos, Part IA, Physiology, and Natural Sciences Tripos, Part IA, Physiology

The regulations for the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos and the Natural Sciences Tripos have been amended as set out below. The purpose of these amendments is to set an earlier date for the submission of practical note-books in Physiology in Part IA of these two Triposes; candidates will now be required to submit note-books in this subject by the division of the Easter Term. The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 October 1998, as follows:

Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 325; see also Reporter, p. 128)

Regulation 16(b).

By replacing the words 'on the day before the day specified for the beginning of the examinations for Part IA' by the words 'not later than the division of the Easter Term'.

Natural Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 358; see also Reporter, p. 128)

Regulation 16(b).

By replacing the final sentence by the following sentences:

For those subjects in which note-books containing records of practical work are to be submitted, such note-books shall be presented for the inspection of the Examiners as follows: in Physiology, not later than the division of the Easter Term; in other subjects, on the day before the day specified for the beginning of the examinations for Part IA. Note-books shall bear the signatures of the teachers under whose direction the work was performed.

The supplementary regulations for the subject Physiology in these two examinations (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 329 and 371; see also Reporter, p. 129) have also been amended, with effect from the same date, as follows:

By adding the following sentence at the end of the regulation in each case:

The practical examination will be in two parts; the first part will be compulsory for all candidates, but a candidate will normally be granted exemption from the second part if the records of practical work submitted under Regulation 16(b) are satisfactory.
