Applications are invited for the following University office:

Secretary of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics

Secretary of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics to take up appointment from 1 November 1998 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Secretary is responsible to the Head of Department for all aspects of the administration of this leading, research-intensive Department (annual expenditure £7m), and also acts as Secretary of the Mathematics Faculty Board. Candidates should be educated at least to degree level. Previous relevant experience in a senior administrative post is essential, preferably within the HE sector. The Appointments Committee hopes soon to be in a position to make an appointment. The appointment will be for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment until the retiring age.

The pensionable scale of stipends for the Secretary of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics is £19,758 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £30,473 (currently under review).
