Announcement of scarlet days on Wednesday, 24 June 1998, and Saturday, 4 July 1998

On the occasion of the Congregation on Wednesday, 24 June, for conferment of the titles of Honorary Degrees, the Vice-Chancellor requests that the University flag be flown until dusk from University buildings having flagpoles. He further requests that flags be flown on Saturday, 4 July, on the occasion of the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the first admission of women to degrees in the Senate-House.

He also requests, in accordance with Regulation 3 for Academical Dress (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 181), that Doctors in the several Faculties wear their festal gowns in public on 24 June and 4 July.

Members of the University are reminded that the days of General Admission to Degrees (26 and 27 June 1998) are scarlet days, and that flags are customarily flown until dusk on those days.
