English Tripos

The regulations for the English Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 291) have been amended as set out below. The purpose of the amendments is (a) to make it clear that the option of submitting a portfolio of essays in substitution for one of Papers 2-4 of Part I is available only to candidates for Part I, and does not apply to a candidate who is offering one of those papers in Part II, and (b) to bring forward by one day the latest date for the submission of original compositions, which will now be in line with the arrangements for dissertations. The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 October 1998, as follows:

Regulation 18, proviso (vi).

By attaching the following footnote to the words 'from among Papers 1-5 of Part I of the English Tripos':

The option of submitting a portfolio of essays in substitution for one of Papers 2-4 of Part I (Regulation 16, proviso (ii)) is not available to a candidate who is given leave to offer one of those papers in Part II.

Regulations 17-20.

By renumbering Regulations 17-19 as 18-20, and Regulation 20 as 17.

Regulation 21.

By replacing the words 'the third day of the Full Easter Term' by the words 'the second day of the Full Easter Term'.
