ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

Administrative Officer, Grade II, (Project Control) to take up appointment on 1 July 1998 or as soon as possible thereafter. This office in the Property Services Section of the Finance Division plays a vital role in maintaining financial control of the University's extensive programme of building projects. The job holder will assist the Senior Assistant Treasurer in reviewing and implementing procedures for authorization and supervision of building works. The role will include attendance at appropriate committees, acting as secretary where required, improving systems for recording and monitoring progress, and close liaison with the Estate Management and Building Service. (The appointment will be on an unestablished basis for two years in the first instance, with the opportunity for reappointment on an established basis thereafter.) A degree and/or professional qualification, and proven administrative experience are desirable. Whilst an accounting qualification is not essential, applicants must be able to demonstrate good numeracy and knowledge of databases (Microsoft ACCESS), spreadsheets, and accounting principles. Some knowledge of the building industry would be helpful.

The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade II, is £17,606 a year, rising by six annual increments to £22,785.
