Report of the Council on the wearing of academical dress on 'scarlet' days: Withdrawal of Grace 7 of 30 April 1998

11 May 1998

In their Notice dated 27 April 1998 (Reporter, p. 566) the Council announced that a vote was to be taken by ballot on Grace 7 of 30 April, the Grace for the approval of the recommendations of the Council's Report on the wearing of academical dress on 'scarlet' days. The Vice-Chancellor has now received notice that a number of members of the Regent House wish to propose amendments of the Grace. In order to make it possible for the Regent House to vote on such amendments, the Vice-Chancellor has withdrawn the Grace for further consideration; the ballot announced in the Council's Notice will not now take place. It is the Council's intention to resubmit the Grace at a later date, when members of the Regent House who wish to do so will have an opportunity to propose amendments.
