REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICE BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Chemical Engineering Tripos

The New Regulations for the Chemical Engineering Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 250) have been amended, with immediate effect, as follows:

Regulation 11.

 By adding at the end of the regulation the following sentence:

For special excellence in Part IIA or Part IIB a mark of distinction may be awarded.

The supplementary regulations for Part I of the Chemical Engineering Tripos (New Regulations) (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 252) have been amended, with effect from 1 October 1998, as follows:

By amending the regulation for Paper 5 so as to read:

This paper will be set in two parts, Papers 5(1) and 5(2).

Paper 5(1) will be taken by candidates who have previously obtained honours in the Natural Sciences Tripos or the Computer Science Tripos. This paper will contain, for example, questions on general engineering principles, structures, and mechanics.

Paper 5(2) will be taken by candidates who have previously obtained honours in the Engineering Tripos. This paper will contain, for example, questions on general engineering principles and chemistry.

An Affiliated Student or a student admitted to the examination for Part I under the provisions of Regulation 3 will be required to take either Paper 5(1) or Paper 5(2), as directed by the Chemical Engineering Syndicate.
