Jesus College, Oxford

ONE-YEAR LECTURERSHIP IN MODERN HISTORY

Jesus College wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Modern History for one year from 1 October 1998. The successful applicant will be required to teach (on average) up to twelve hours a week for the Honour School of Modern History and Joint Schools with Modern History, and will be responsible for the organization of teaching of nineteenth- and twentieth-century British and General History in the College. He or she will be expected to assist in the annual admissions exercise and to set and mark internal College examinations (Collections) as appropriate. The College's principal teaching requirements are in the areas of History of the British Isles (since 1685), General History (1815-1914), and General Papers covering the periods after 1799.

The stipend will be on the scale £14,272 to £15,159 a year (subject to a review on 1 April 1998). The Lecturer will be provided with a room for residence and teaching, will be entitled to lunch and dine free of charge at Common Table, and will receive an entertainment and book allowance.
