LECTURESHIP IN ENGLISH

Newnham College invites applications for a College Lectureship in English from 1 October 1998. The appointment, which is open to men and women, will be for three years in the first instance with the possibility of extension for a further two years. The stipend will be at a point on the scale for University Assistant Lecturers, currently £16,045 to £21,016 a year, depending on age and experience. Further details may be obtained from the Principal, Newnham College, Cambridge, CB3 9DF, with whom applications should be lodged no later than Wednesday, 8 April 1998. Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae with details of educational record, current research, publications, teaching and professional experience, and the names of two referees who should be asked by the applicant to submit references to the Principal by 8 April 1998.

RESEARCH LECTURER IN PHYSIOLOGY

Applications are invited for a post as Research Lecturer in Physiology from 1 October 1998, or as soon after as possible. The post will require the Research Lecturer to combine research, as accepted by the Department of Physiology in the University of Cambridge, with limited College teaching. Appointment will be for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of extension for a further two years.

The pensionable salary will be at a point on the scale for University Assistant Lecturers and Lecturers, within the range £16,045 to £22,785 a year, depending on age and experience. Candidates who are currently in receipt of a salary from a Research Council or similar body, or who obtain such salary at a later point, may hold the Lectureship on a non-stipendiary or part-stipendiary basis; in this case they will be additionally remunerated for College teaching on the same basis as University Lecturers.

The research interests of members of the Department of Physiology can be found on the Departmental Website (http://www.physiol.cam.ac.uk/).
